Summary: SKU Search Preflight is a client-side utility extension for Shopify merchants. It runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, store, or transmit your product catalog, search queries, or storefront data to our servers. The only data transmitted off-device is your Gumroad license key for entitlement verification.
Information We Access and Collect
SKU Search Preflight operates locally on your machine. We request and handle the following information:
- Product Catalog CSV: When you import your Shopify product export CSV, the file is parsed entirely in your browser's local memory. We do not upload or send this data to any servers.
- Storefront Search Content: The extension queries your Shopify storefront's public search endpoints from your active browser tab to verify if products are indexable by SKU. This scanning happens client-side and the results are not shared with us or any third parties.
- Authentication Info (Gumroad License Key): If you choose to activate the Pro features, you provide a license key. This key is transmitted to Gumroad (api.gumroad.com) to verify your purchase.
How We Use Information
- The Product CSV handles and SKUs are used solely to perform search queries against your Shopify storefront to classify their indexation status (Exact Match, Wrong Match, No Match, etc.).
- The license key is sent securely to Gumroad to toggle the Pro features inside your extension.
What We Store
We do not operate any external database to store your data. All extension configurations, license statuses, and report summaries are stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's storage.
What We Never Do
- We never sell, rent, or share your storefront data, product catalogs, or search queries with third parties.
- We never track your browser history or collect analytics on your usage.
- We never modify your Shopify storefront content.
- We never use your product catalogs to train AI models.
Third-Party Services
For payments and license verification, we use Gumroad. You can read their privacy policy at gumroad.com/privacy. No other third-party APIs, scripts, or tracking services are integrated into this extension.
Data Retention and Deletion
All scanned reports and CSV imports are cleared automatically from memory when you close the extension or reload your storefront tab. Any settings stored in chrome.storage.local are permanently deleted when you uninstall the extension from Chrome.
Changes
We will update this policy if the extension's data practices change, and note the new effective date above.
