HELP CENTER
Check local flat file issues before upload.
Amazon Flat File Preflight checks deterministic mistakes inside an .xlsx, .csv, or .tsv file. It does not connect to Seller Central and cannot guarantee Amazon acceptance.
Getting started
- Keep a backup of the original Amazon flat file.
- Choose or drop the
.xlsx,.csv, or.tsvfile in the checker. - Confirm the file card, then select Check selected file.
- Review critical issues first, using the exact row and SKU shown.
- Make corrections in your original spreadsheet or Amazon template.
- Run the corrected file again before uploading it to Seller Central.
- Export the findings CSV when you need a work list for a teammate.
What the checker looks for
- Duplicate SKUs.
- Children pointing to a missing parent SKU.
- Parents with no children and children with incomplete relationships.
- Missing or incorrect
relationship_typeon child rows. - Mixed
variation_themevalues inside one family. - Invalid active-row prices and suspicious quantities when those columns exist.
- Missing expected columns, blank rows, and file-structure warnings.
Free preview and large-file unlock
The free preview checks the first 30 data rows. A one-time large-file unlock checks up to 5,000 data rows and enables the complete findings export. The unlock does not expire. The file still stays local after unlocking.
Enter the license key from your purchase receipt in the unlock field. The key can be activated on up to five browsers or devices — clearing browser storage, using a private window, or changing browsers requires entering it again and uses one activation. If you run out because of reinstalls, email support@quietsmith.com and we will reset it.
Privacy
Your flat file stays in your browser. The checker does not upload files, rows, SKUs, product names, or findings to Quietsmith, Amazon, or a third party.
The selected file is held only while the page is open. The browser stores only your license key and the date it was last verified. There is no Amazon login, SP-API connection, catalog history, or analytics based on file contents.
Important limits
- A clean report does not guarantee that Amazon will accept an upload.
- The checker cannot see Seller Central account state, Brand Registry, ASIN restrictions, policy blocks, or stale catalog relationships.
- Amazon templates vary by category and marketplace; unsupported columns are ignored.
- The checker reports issues but never edits or uploads the original file.
Troubleshooting
- “No supported Amazon flat file header row was detected.”
- Use the original category template from Seller Central and keep its SKU and relationship headers. Avoid exporting the workbook through another system that replaces or merges header rows.
- The wrong sheet was selected.
- Keep the data sheet's Amazon headers intact. The checker chooses the sheet with the strongest supported header match and ignores instructions-only sheets.
- A price or quantity finding looks incorrect.
- Check whether the row is active or marked for deletion, and confirm that decimal separators were preserved. Send only an anonymized example if you need support.
- The large-file code does not work.
- Paste the complete code from the purchase receipt without extra spaces. If it still fails, email the purchase address and the message shown; do not attach a real flat file.
- I need help with an Amazon rejection after upload.
- The checker can explain only findings visible inside the local file. Seller Central account, Brand Registry, policy, or catalog-state diagnosis is outside its scope.
